The Gap, located 5.3 km North West of Werris Creek is the Junction for the Main North West and the cross country line to Binnaway, Gwabegar and Dubbo. The road normally lays for trains heading to Breeza as the majority of train do. The Gap was also the junction for a line that use to connect the North West with the southern end of Werris Creek yard at South Box. The abandoned formation runs through private land, but is easily observed.

Gunnedah is a busy yard in a cramped and confined area. Namoi Flour Mill (part of the Manildra Group) receives domestic wheat trains most Monday to Fridays and exports bulk flour in hopper wagons to Nowra twice a week. This is in addition to other coal, container, passenger and domestic and export Wheat trains that run through. Gunnedah is a staffed location with a SRA person working most trains through. Manildra and ARG (now QRN) have crews based here. One of the Manildra Loco's (MM class, ex 49 class) resides at Gunnedah.

Narrabri makes a good base in which to explore the North West. Facilities include accommodation, food, fuel, vehicle repairs, activities and places to go for the non railfan. Much rail activity centers around Narrabri and Narrabri West, but like many things railway you have to ask to find out what is happening.

Camurra is the junction for the line to North Star (Boggabilla).
Weemelah opened with the Garah - Mungindi section was previously known as Benarba. I have no record of when the name changed to Weemelah.
Weemelah is the current terminus of the Werris Creek Mungindi line.
